I recently had the opportunity to enjoy an art form I had almost forgotten. For more than a decade I totally neglected what used to be an important part of me… a part I used to be proud of. I wouldn’t say I’m a man of art or that I know much about it, or even what art is… but some forms of art have always been close to my heart. Books, music, movies, plays, rock concerts can all ignite a wide range of emotions inside me, but there is one media that combines storytelling, music and visuals in a way that is unattainable in all classic art forms. It can affect your emotions and instincts like nothing in this world. It can make you forget everything else, it can easily swallow all your time and energy, it becomes an obsession, that’s how good it is
No, despite what you’re probably thinking, I’m not talking about psychoactive substances (despite the fact that some art activities and artifacts may be directly related to drugs
I’m talking about gaming.
Like all kinds of art you need to understand this one to enjoy it. Someone who enjoys chalga is not likely to be an opera fan as well. We all know the classic artists, composers, writers and playwrights of the past. How often are you exposed to their work in your daily life? It’s the same with gaming. It’s a great art but few appreciate it. Maybe it’s time just hasn’t really come yet. Unfortunately, not everyone is capable of appreciating this amazing achievement of our time. Let’s face it: most people think gaming is stupid, violent, childish, and a waste of time – an unhealthy habit of nerds that don’t have a life. But what they’re really doing is denying an art form they simply don’t (and sometimes can’t) experience and comprehend.
But not me. My eyes are really open now. I am awakened. And I’ve got Hells to invade and demons to kill…
