Monday, May 17th, 2010Liked the bike, hated the price.
If I’m to shell out €1500 for a bike, I’d like to get a little more than a 250W model, EU electric bicycle laws be damned.
Luckily, the manufacturer offers higher-powered models (”for export only!?”). Unluckily, I’m not sure I’ll be able to get my hands on one of those, though I sure as hell am going to try.
Cons:
- Street legal – 250W motor, which shuts off at 25kph
- Can climb slopes on electric power alone, but barely
- The price
Pros:
- I love the 36V/14Ah Lithium-ion polymer battery (504 W/h !!!)
- 350/500W models are perhaps available
- The speed cap can perhaps be turned off in “offroad mode”
- Prebuilt, so few wires in sight.
- Throttle, 2-level power assist, or both
- Riding it felt like the best thing I’d done with my clothes on.
Final verdict:
If I can get a 350W or 500W model with “offroad” mode activated, I’ll do it .

*but* It’s not like I’m complaining 
P.S. My overclocked i5-670 does not have the raw crunching power of the quad- or six-core i7s, but when it comes to single, and dual-thread workloads… it leaves even the $1000 i7-980X in the dust, and the coolest thing (the CPU is literally cool!) is that it does so with considerably less energy
